티셔츠의 여행 
티셔츠는 예쁘고, 가볍고 편하다. 그것은 모든 사람들로부터 사랑받는다. 여러분 
은 티셔츠를 어느 계절에나 입을 수 있으며, 보통 그렇게 비싸지도 않다. 여러분은 
아마도 집에 티셔츠를 한 장 이상 가지고 있을 것이다. 그 티셔츠가 어떻게 여러분

The Journey of a T-shirt 
A T-shirt is pretty, light, and comfortable. It is loved by everyone. You can 
wear it in any season, and it is usually not that expensive. You may have 
more than one T-shirt at home. How did it get to your closet? Well, let's 
take a look at the journey of a T-shirt. 
The journey starts in a cotton field. Cotton plants love water! About 2,700 
liters of water is needed to grow enough cotton for just one T-shirt. This can 
cause a problem. For example, cotton farms in Uzbekistan drew water from 
the river that flowed into the Aral Sea. Now, the Aral Sea is almost a desert. 
Farmers use a lot of chemicals to grow cotton plants. The chemicals kill the 
insects that eat the plants. Unfortunately, they also pollute the land and the 
water. Animals and humans can get sick because of the chemicals. 
How are cotton plants turned into fabric? People have to use machines to 
get cotton from the plants. They also use a lot of chemicals to make the 
cotton into a soft and white fabric. 
The fabric is moved to T-shirt factories. In some factories, most of the 
workers are young boys and girls, and they work long hours. They get very 
little money for their work and can't buy a T-shirt for themselves. 
The T-shirts are sent to stores around the world. The trucks, ships, and 
planes that bring the T-shirts to cities give off a lot of CO2. 
When you wear your favorite T-shirt, stop for a moment and think about its 
journey.
